Arizona

We have been having fun here in AZ.  Here is the rundown (this is mostly for B who we really miss!).  

Day 1:  Halloween party at Grandma and Grandpa B's.  There was a train ride, pinata, costume parade, dancing, and of course Grandpa B's famous soft serve ice cream. 

Day 2:  The Phoenix Zoo.  One would think that late October would be a great time to go to the zoo.  It was 90 degrees that day so we decided to opt for the train ride to see the animals (who were all taking cover).  We added Rusty and Carianne's niece and nephew for the trip.

Day 3:  The Arizona State Fair.  We rode rides, went to the petting zoo, ate ridiculous amounts of junk, and had the traditional fry bread and cinnamon rolls. 

Day 4:  I cant remember what we did...

Day 5:  Pumpkin Patch with Grandma and Grandpa.  There was a barrel ride, bounce house, pony rides and hay maze.  The kids loved it. 

Day 6:  Halloween Trunk or Treat.  We sewed all day long!  I thought Carianne and Rusty's costumes from Snow White turned out great.  Emmie was Sleeping Beauty while I was Peter Pan and Pete was Captain Hook.

Day 7:  Church.  We have been here a week now!  I can't hardly believe it.  Time is flying by but we are having a great time. 

Pete's 1st birthday pictures

We went out and took some 1 year pics of Pete this afternoon.  We sure do love this kid. 

 

Painting pumpkins

We love Halloween at our house and painted some pumpkins for the doorstep.   We got a little creative toward the end. 

Pumpkin patch

While Brenden was out of town (conference in Oakland) I took the kids (along with some friends) to the pumpkin patch.  They had a pony ride, hay ride, bikes,  and some fainting goats (I wish they did this on command).  This idea of a pumpkin patch was completely new to me until I moved to Nebraska.  In Arizona if you want a pumpkin you drive to the Walgreens parking lot where they have some displayed on straw.  I like the pumpkin patches much better here.

 

 

The pony ride was free so Emmie rode Peanut at least 5 times.   I think she wants a pony for Christmas.

 Pete was so good.  He thought he was such a big boy sitting on the hay ride.

 I know this one is not the greatest but it's the best I can do at getting a picture of them together. 

Laura and Kate are Emmie's best friends here in Kearney.  We were so lucky to have them come with us!

Now go back and look at the picture of Emmie riding the horse.  Do you notice the farmer leading the pony?  Well, we got stuck in a huge pile-o-mud while leaving.  Apparently you can't drive through mud.  Being from the city and the dessert I didn't know this.  We got stuck and this nice farmer pulled us out with his truck although he was not happy about it.   I now have 3 inches of mud on the bottom of my shoes and mud splattered all over the mini mini. 

Toothbrush

Have you ever seen the Seinfeld episode where Jerry's girlfriend does something with his toothbrush and he doesn't know what?  Well, that happened to me today.  I had asked Emmie to go up and use the bathroom.  She was in there for a while so I thought I would go up and check on her.  There she was... with my toothbrush.  I asked her, "Emmie!  What are you doing with my toothbrush!?"  She responded, "I'm just cleaning the seat like this (proceeded to scrub the toilet seat with my toothbrush)".   Now I know I am not the best housekeeper and my toilet seats are probably not that clean so that toothbrush is now in the trash. 

Pete's birthday pics

I had a request from a grandparent to post more pictures of Pete's birthday.  Apparently 2 was not enough.  There was plenty of wrapping paper, gifts, balloons, and cake.  Just as a birthday should be. 

Happy 1st Birthday Peter

Happy Birthday to our Peter.  We had so much fun opening gifts from family and friends.  Thanks to everyone who sent gifts and helped us celebrate!
