Back to reality

Well, this week was fantastic.  We tried to do something fun everyday.  Other than that, it was a really laid back week.

We had Mya over to play and we went to the new yogurt shop.  Next time we know to get Emmie only toppings.

We went to the Omaha zoo with the Webers and Brenden's cousin Doug and his family.  It was great and the weather was perfect.  I have only been to the zoo in the summer. One word: sweaty.

Pete already has a way with the ladies.  He had a pretty sweet ride through the zoo.

Pete went swimming for the first time.  He loved it for about 15 minutes, then his chin started to quiver so we pulled him out.

Brenden took Emmie to go see Rango at the movie theater.  If you know Emmie, she is obsessed with movies.  She loved it.

I should have taken a picture of all the great things I got done like cleaning the bathroom, doing laundry, helping a friend with a quilt, making cookies, taking naps, but who finds that stuff interesting?

Let's just say I'm counting down the days until summer vacation.  Who wouldn't love to spend a week with this guy... even if he does spit up.

Keeping it Classy with Brenden

Yesterday, as I stepped out of my car at the gas station on my way to campus, I was shocked by how ridiculous my cloths were.  When I got dressed, everything looked fine - blue chuck taylors, khaki dungarees, plaid wrangler shirt with pearly snaps.  Classic right?  Well, that was before I through on my jacket and stepped outside.  Without looking down, I had put on a khaki jacket and zipped it up.  I imagine I looked something like Douglas MacArthur, sans the corncob pipe.

Needless to say, I ditched the jacket and simply froze all day as I was walking around campus.

Keeping with the military theme, I wore my dad's old Vietnam era olive green Army jacket to campus - perhaps channeling a little Lennon.

And yes, I do realize that Lennon's jacket is from the Korean War, and not Vietnam...but you get the idea...

Keeping it Classy with Emmie

I am starting to question both Emmie's sense of fashion and Julianne's sense of propriety in letting our daughter run around like this.

Tie-dye shirt, cowboy boots and undies.  Classy.

Spring Break!

This is Emmie jumping on our bed.  It is spring break this week and I feel like I have a little spring in my step.  Normally I would say, Emmie, we don't jump on our bed but hey, it's spring break!  We can do whatever we want!  You want to watch a movie?  Let's do it!  You want to dress yourself and wear your clothes inside out?  Awesome! You want candy for breakfast?  Now that's wear I draw the line.  Maybe for lunch.  It's spring break.  Let the party begin.

Eyeballs, Hairballs

So, there is a lot of debate about whether or not Pete will end up a redhead like Emmie.  I say, he looks more strawberry blond than she did...but who knows.  In some light there is a real red hue, but not so much in others.  Julianne thinks it is going to go red.  As for Eye color, they are really different.  Here are a couple comparisons for you to consider.  If you click on the pictures, you can zoom in for a better look.  Votes?  Thoughts?

Emmie's Eye, c. 5 months old

 Pete's Eye, c. 5 months old

Emmie's "hair", c. 6 months old

 Pete's hair, c. 5 months old
Regardless, there is no debating - they both have very round head.  Emmie's was a bit more rotund, if you ask me.  A bit more pudge in the cheeks (jowls) and neck (double chin)!

Emmie's rotund head, c. 5 months old

 Pete's head, c. 5 months old

Other thoughts?  Same nose.  Pete's ears stick out a bit more.  He doesn't have quite the double chin that she did.  What else?  Thoughts?

Ariel

Emmie got invited to her first friend birthday party last week.  Unfortunately we got a call this morning and Sadie has the flu.  Bummer.  It was supposed to be a princess party and the kids were to dress up like a princess.  Emmie doesn't have any princess dresses so I thought about what I could put together.  I decided to make an Ariel outfit.  With a little trial and error we got this...

She is excited to wear it next weekend!

You want the latest?

We haven't been up to much lately, just busy being awesome.  Brenden has been lucky enough to have a few interviews recently.  We are just waiting to hear if they think he is amazing as he really is.  Keep us in your prayers!

It has been nice off and on the past few days.  Here is Pete sporting a new hat.  A friend made it for Pete when he was born.  It was huge a few months ago but now it fits great.  Thanks Stacia!  Linda- the hat you made fits great too!  Lets hope we don't need them too much longer around here.

Brenden was playing with the kids on the floor yesterday.  It looked so fun so I got my camera out and snapped a few pictures.

Emmie's favorite thing to do recently is "roar" like a lion.  Can't you just hear it through the computer?  Believe me, it isn't annoying or anything.

We'll keep everyone updated as far as jobs go.  Nothing yet but we are hopeful!

The many faces of Emmie

The only way we can get Emmie to look at the camera these days is to shout out emotions... This was the result.

The Hulk

I found this picture the other day.  It made me laugh.

But it made me think of the Hulk.
