gum = yum

Tonight we went swimming at the YMCA with our friends Brad and Mya.  A good time was had by all.  On our way out I noticed Emmie chewing on something.  I didn't recall giving her anything to eat and I was pretty sure Brenden didn't either.

I ask her numerous times to spit whatever it was out of her mouth.  Do you know what she spit out?  AN ALREADY CHEWED PIECE OF GUM FROM UNDER THE TABLE!  AHHHH!  I was so grossed out.

Hair

Lyrics from the musical Hair:
Gimme head with hair
Long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming,
Streaming, flaxen, waxen

So I was thinking the other day about how many inches an average person's hair grows per year.  It is a 1/2 an inch a month for a total of 6 (I know, I am great at math).
Here is Emmie one year ago.  Notice how long her hair is.  What would you say... 2 inches?

Now check out Emmie one year later. How long do you think it is?  Maybe 4 inches?

If my math skills are correct, that means her hair grew 2 inches. We might just have a cute bob by the time she enters kindergarten.

Where are Gregg and Rachael?

My brother and sister in-law came for Thanksgiving this past year.  We had a grand time.  Since then, a couple of times a week Emmie asks where Gregg and Rachael are.  Well... they went back to Arizona I always tell her.  She then responds, I want to go on an airplane to zona too.  So, if you want to get on Emmie's good list and always be listed as people she is thankful for in her prayers book a flight and come visit!

Little Pete

We had a scare and took Pete to the ER this week.  He was having trouble breathing at about 10:30PM on Sunday night.  I was paranoid it was RSV or Pneumonia... but it was just a cold.  The doc gave him some asthma medication and sent him home.  He is doing great now and his skin has even cleared up!  No more reptile face.  Isn't this boy the cutest thing you've ever seen?

Snow day #2

We weren't as adventurous today since the temperature is 10 degrees (feels like -8).  I don't want to go outside until March.  I have had fun with my two favorites.  Staying in my fat pants and slippers for the last 2 days has been awesome.  Don't worry I will spare you the pictures of that.

New hair style

I thought I might try something new with Emmie's hair today.  I used the blow dryer and a round brush.  I thought maybe if I got a little height on it it would look like she had more hair.  Well, I was wrong.  She just ended up looking like Conan O'Brien.

Snow Day!!!

Yesterday afternoon, UNL announced it would be closed today.  Julianne was fuming, certain that LPS would still be open.  Around 4AM I checked our voicemail and there was a message announcing a snow day for them too!  We just went out and I shoveled a good 12 inches off the driveway.  It is still snowing.  This was Emmie's first real romp in the snow and she had SO MUCH fun.

Family Photos

Here is proof that we were all together for Christmas.  Thanks Lorinda for being our photographer!

I was looking through the pictures tonight and noticed this one.  It totally made me giggle.  Kate just really wanted to be in the picture too I guess-- can you find her?

Happy 3 month Birthday

I would like to wish my boy a happy 3 month birthday... yesterday.  Pete continues to be the happiest, easy-going baby I have ever met.   The little guy really makes us happy.

Here he is on his blessing day.  Grandpa Randy picked out his outfit.  I added the bow tie (Pete told me he wanted to be like his Uncle Jeff).

I had the following conversation with Pete the other day.
Me:  Pete! How are you?
Pete:  HUH
Me:  I am so happy to see you!
Pete:  HUH
Me:  You are the cutest boy ever!
Pete:  HUH
Me:  Pete, are you talking to me?
Pete:  HUH

It was super funny.  Every time I asked him a question he answered with a grunt.  What can I say, he is gifted.

Christmas Vacation

I know everyone has been checking the blog daily for an update so I apologize for getting this up late.  You can all sleep well tonight knowing what has been going on in our lives.   Here are a few highlights from our Christmas vacation trip to the wonderful state of Arizona.  And yes, the weather was fantastic (except for that freak snow one day).

A visit from great-grandma Olive.  Can you believe that this young lady is now a great-great grandmother?  I wouldn't have guessed either.

We visited Santa (aka Grandpa Randy).  Emmie wasn't fooled.

We celebrated Grandpa Randy's birthday at Organ Stop Pizza.  This place has more pipes than the tabernacle.  Grandpa had a great party with these two in attendance.

The Mesa, AZ Temple lights.  You can tell by the picture that Emmie was not into this outing.

OK, this might be my favorite picture of all time.  For Christmas Eve Lorinda threw a Grinch party.  Matthew dressed up like the Grinch and totally freaked all the little girls out. This is Emmie truly terrified.

On Christmas day we went out to great Grandpa and Grandma B's.  We had tons of fun with all the family.  We pretty much have the best family.

We rode the train at the McCormick Ranch park.

Brenden thought it would be a good idea to go swimming with our friend John.  He admitted later that it was a mistake.

We had a fun time with Grandpa Pete and Grandma Linda.

Lorinda also threw a fantastic rock band New Years Eve party. This is Emmie in her rocker garb.

Just to clarify, I am dressed up in this picture and Brenden isn't.  He begged me not post pictures of his costume but if you send me an email I might sneak you a picture.  Let's just say no one should wear gold pants like that.

It was a fantastic trip as usual.  I have probably 500 more photos I could have posted so if you want to see more pictures of a certain event, let me know.  I would love to post more.  Thanks to all our family and friends.  We love and miss you and can't wait until the next trip!
