We had a memorable experience this weekend at Lee's Chicken in Lincoln, NE. A few people had mentioned the place as an old time Lincoln landmark and we heard the atmosphere was unique. That is was!
First, the crowd: The median age was 63.
Second, the fare: Tasty fried chicken. Brenden ordered all white and got a "wishbone" piece. It was amazing- one little bone and the rest pure meaty delight.
Third, (and most important) The music: About half way through our meal a older man began to play hits that the 60+ crowd would recognize on an old time organ. He even played Take Me Out to the Ball Game. We were swaying uncontrollably to the music.
Fourth, The service: The waitress gave us free beans, told us to take the rolls home (which were delicious) and informed us that there were free pieces of bubble gum at the cash register. That 30 seconds of Double Bubble never tasted so good.
Next time you are in the mood for fried chicken and some organ music... go down to Lee's.

Do you happen to recall what days they're open? I come to Lincoln on Mondays once or twice a month. This sounds like a must-see on my next trip. Thanks!
They are closed all day on Mondays.
tuesday -thursday 11 to 930 and friday and saturday 11 to 1030 and sundays 11 to 9
Bring your wallet. True,it is a good atmosphere but you pay steakhouse prices for chicken served in a plastic bowl. The chicken is unique in that its about as heavy a breading as you'll ever find and not terribly tasty. Some people like it most don't.
